Yan Kanahebi

Field Officer

With 14 years of experience as a community development facilitator, Yan is now applying his expertise in his role as a Field Officer for Kopernik's community initiatives, with a specific focus on addressing food security challenges in West Timor.

Yan began his professional career as a Facilitator for the government's national programs. He first joined Kopernik in 2015 and remained with the organization for four years, actively participating in the Wonder Women Eastern Indonesia program. In this role, he played a vital part in the distribution of simple, life-changing technologies to last-mile communities. The initiative primarily focused on women's economic empowerment, aiming to enhance people's lives through the adoption of cleaner and healthier technology. In 2023, Yan rejoined Kopernik, this time as part of the PANGAN initiative. In this capacity, he provides support to efforts aimed at revitalizing indigenous farming practices and experimenting with innovative food preservation technologies. He firmly believes that the integration of eco-friendly technology and climate-resistant farming practices will not only increase yields but also contribute to fostering a healthy and fertile environment. Amidst his hectic routine, Yan frequently dedicates his free time to chicken farming and going for walks.
