THE PROBLEM
UNDP Armenia wanted to further expand the impact of Kolba Lab, its own social innovation incubator, which offers a platform for citizens and innovators to involve themselves in the development process of a social start-up. Kolba Lab had initial success in supporting Armenian entrepreneurs and generated various citizen-led projects.
THE SOLUTION
Kopernik identified and analyzed the current programs of UNDP Armenia and the role of Kolba Lab within the organisation’s work. Later, Kopernik subsequently designed a more systematic approach to bring new ideas into UNDP Armenia's work, by enhancing the synergy between Kolba Lab's work and its mainstream program work.
THE PROJECT RESULT
Kolba Lab continues to bring new ideas into UNDP Armenia. Kolba Lab's work culminated into the successful Impact Investment Conference in 2017 which brought together global leaders in social innovation and impact investment space.
THE BROADER IMPACT
Incubator initiatives started by Kolba Lab have led to many other broader initiatives, such as the SDGs Innovation Lab and Impact Investment for Development Summit in 2017. These initiatives created new movements in the country to embrace innovation to achieve the SDGs.
